Applefest Marketing & Promotional Opportunities

Applefest Marketing FAQ

Woodbine Applefest is more than a one-day festival. It's an opportunity to showcase our community, support local businesses and nonprofit organizations, and connect participating vendors with thousands of festival visitors.

Through our website, social media channels, event directories, and festival maps, we work to help visitors discover everything Applefest has to offer.

Below are answers to frequently asked questions about our promotional opportunities.

Who does Applefest help promote?

Our promotional efforts focus on businesses, organizations, and vendors that are directly participating in or supporting the Applefest experience.

Eligible participants include:

  • Woodbine-based nonprofit organizations and community groups that have purchased booth space.

  • Local businesses and organizations with a brick-and-mortar location within the Applefest festival corridor.

  • All Registered Indoor Market Vendors

  • All Registered Outdoor Market Vendors

  • All Registered Food Vendors

How are local businesses and organizations promoted?

Eligible local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups receive a special listing on our Shop Local page. This helps festival visitors discover local shopping, dining, activities, and organizations while exploring Woodbine. We encourage participating businesses and groups to plan Applefest specials, activities, and other experiences that welcome visitors into their establishments.  This would also be a great opportunity for non-profits or other organizations to fundraise.

How are indoor and outdoor vendors promoted?

Registered Indoor and Outdoor Market Vendors are included in our online vendor directory and festival maps, helping visitors find their booths and discover what they have to offer.

Make the most of your vendor listing!
During registration, vendors have the opportunity to provide a website or social media link, along with a description of the products they plan to bring to Applefest. This information is used to create their listing on our website.

We encourage vendors to make good use of these fields!

- Website or Social Media Link: If you have a website, we recommend providing that link rather than a social media profile URL. Websites generally provide a more seamless mobile browsing experience, while social media links may redirect visitors to an app, require a login, or not open as expected.  Having a website can mean capturing future sales from people not ready to purchase today.

- Product Description: Be specific about what you're bringing! Rather than simply listing "crafts" or "antiques" describe your products so visitors know what to expect. This information helps potential customers discover your booth and plan their shopping experience.  You are limited to 300 characters, however.

Why does this matter?
Our website traffic is overwhelmingly mobile:
82% of our traffic is from mobile visitors leading up to Applefest

94% of our traffic is from mobile visitors on Applefest day

Visitors are using their phones to explore vendors, browse products, and navigate the festival. A complete listing with a clear product description and an easily accessible link makes it easier for them to find you!

Throughout the festival season, we also provide social media opportunities for vendors to share photos, products, and information about what they're bringing to Applefest. Watch our Facebook page for these opportunities, where we ask vendors to participate.

Please note: Vendors are promoted according to their registered participation category. Indoor and Outdoor Market Vendor registration does not include the additional promotional benefits reserved for registered Food Vendors.

What is the difference between a registered Food Vendor and an indoor or outdoor vendor who sells food?

Applefest offers different vendor registration categories, each with its own fees, placement, and promotional benefits.  Food Trucks/Food vendors must obtain special licences and permits that indoor and outdoor vendors do not.

Registered Food Vendors participate under the designated Food Vendor category and receive additional promotional opportunities, including placement on our Food Truck Map and eligibility to participate in the Applefest Food Tour.

Indoor and Outdoor Market Vendors who sell food products receive the promotional benefits associated with their market booth registration, including placement in the applicable vendor directory and map.

Selling food products does not automatically qualify an Indoor or Outdoor Market Vendor for the additional promotional benefits reserved for registered Food Vendors.

What promotional opportunities are available for food vendors?

Registered Applefest Food Vendors receive dedicated promotional benefits associated with their registration category, including placement on our Food Truck Map.

Food Vendors may also have the opportunity to participate in the Applefest Food Tour by offering a special apple-themed menu item.

Festival visitors can explore participating food vendors, sample their creations, and vote for their favorites!

The Food Tour is a fun way to encourage visitors to try something new while providing additional exposure for participating Food Vendors.

Can vendors submit photos or information for social media?

Yes! We love giving visitors a sneak peek at what they'll find at Applefest.

Throughout the weeks leading up to the festival, we post opportunities for registered vendors to share photos of their products, special offerings, and other information.
Watch our Facebook page for these opportunities and submission instructions.

Providing quality photos and engaging information helps us showcase the variety of shopping, food, and experiences available at Applefest.

We also do a special "Food Tour" post where vendors who have joined that program can submit a photo of their special Applefest signature creations.

Does Applefest guarantee individual social media features?

While eligible participants receive applicable directory and map listings, individual social media features are not guaranteed.

Our volunteer marketing team works to provide a variety of promotional opportunities while maintaining a balanced mix of festival information, entertainment, vendors, local businesses, and community organizations.

Content selection is based on available space, timing, relevance, and the overall festival marketing schedule.

Can businesses outside Woodbine receive promotional coverage?

Businesses outside Woodbine are welcome to participate in Applefest by registering for available vendor booth space.

Registered vendors receive the promotional benefits associated with their participation category, including applicable directory and map listings.

Our Shop Local promotional opportunities are reserved for eligible Woodbine businesses and organizations.

How can I make the most of my Applefest participation?

We encourage all participating businesses and vendors to get involved in promoting Applefest!

Share official festival posts, invite your customers to attend, showcase what you're bringing, and participate in applicable promotional opportunities.

The more excitement we build together, the more opportunities we create for visitors to discover our local businesses, organizations, and vendors.

Tips for Applefest Vendors

A little preparation can go a long way toward making your Applefest experience a success! Whether you're an Indoor Market Vendor, Outdoor Market Vendor, or Food Vendor, here are some ways to attract visitors, connect with customers, and make the most of festival day.

Indoor & Outdoor Market Vendors
1. Make your booth inviting.
An attractive, organized display encourages visitors to stop and look. Use table coverings, displays of varying heights, and clear signage to make your products stand out. Make sure pricing is easy to find!
2. Bring business cards or take-home information.
Not everyone who visits your booth will make a purchase that day. Have business cards or small flyers with your business name, contact information, website or social media, and a brief description of what you sell. Give visitors an easy way to find you after Applefest!
3. Everyone loves a freebie!
A bowl of candy, a small trinket, stickers, or another inexpensive giveaway can help attract attention and encourage visitors to stop by your booth. A little something extra can make your business memorable.
4. Offer multiple payment options.
Accepting cash, credit cards, and mobile payment options makes shopping easier for everyone. Bring plenty of small bills for change, and make sure your card reader is charged and ready to go.
5. Have a range of price points.
Consider offering products at several price levels, including smaller, affordable items. Visitors may be shopping for gifts, souvenirs, or something fun to take home.
6. Make it easy to find you online.
Include your website or social media information on your signage, packaging, and business cards. A QR code linking directly to your website can also be helpful for customers who want to browse or purchase later.
7. Give visitors a reason to stop.
Demonstrations, samples when appropriate, or showing how a product is made can attract attention. People enjoy seeing the creativity and craftsmanship behind the products they're purchasing.
8. Have your products ready to share on social media.
Take a few quality photos of your products and booth setup before the festival. When Applefest posts opportunities for vendors to share what they're bringing, you'll have everything ready to participate!
9. Plan for the weather.
Outdoor Market Vendors should be prepared for changing weather conditions. Secure your tent with appropriate weights, protect your merchandise from rain and wind, and bring supplies to keep your display organized throughout the day.
10. Be ready for a busy day!
Bring enough inventory, packaging, bags, and supplies to last throughout the festival. Have a plan for restocking your booth, taking breaks, and keeping your display looking inviting.

Food Truck Vendor Tips
Food Vendors have some unique opportunities to attract visitors and make their Applefest experience memorable.
1. Make your menu easy to read.
Display a clear menu with pricing that visitors can see before reaching the ordering window. This helps customers make decisions and keeps lines moving.
2. Highlight your signature items.
What makes your food stand out? Feature your specialties prominently on your menu and signage so visitors can quickly see what you offer.
3. Consider offering an apple-themed special!
Registered Food Vendors have the opportunity to participate in the Applefest Food Tour. Creating a special apple-themed menu item gives visitors another reason to stop by, try something new, and vote for their favorite!
4. Make your food photo-worthy.
An attractive presentation can encourage visitors to take photos and share their experience on social media. Consider adding your business name or logo to your packaging when possible.
5. Prepare for peak meal times.
Plan your inventory, staffing, and food preparation around the possibility of heavy traffic during lunch and other busy periods. Having an efficient ordering and pickup process can improve the customer experience.
6. Offer convenient payment options.
Accepting multiple forms of payment helps keep your line moving and makes ordering easier for visitors.
7. Promote your location and menu before festival day.
Take advantage of Applefest's promotional opportunities to share your menu, photos, and any special offerings. Visitors may plan their food stops before they even arrive!
